Awaken the Giant Within

"Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins is one of my personal favorites. I have read it several times. It's not that the book itself makes me happy. It is more like it shows me how to enjoy my life to its fullest and let go of the limitations I place on myself. I have a natural tendency to want to stick my head in the sand when problems come up in my life. This book helped me learn to face problems head on with confidence and with a plan. When you look at the challenges in your life as challenges that have solutions instead of like problems, they seem a lot less stressful. This book showed me how to do that in simple, clear steps. I suggest doing all of the exercises in the book as you come to them. If you wait until you finish the book, you'll likely never come back and take the time to do them. Believe me, they are worth the effort! Get your copy now.

Developing the The Leader Within You

"Developing the Leader Within You" by John Maxwell is an amazing tool for any manager or business leader/owner. It's the kind of book that has you walking a little taller with your shoulders a little squarer when you've finished it. This is my husband's favorite. I have to agree that it is in my top five. See You at the Top

"See You at the Top" and virtually anything by Zig Ziglar is a fun, conversational book that will leave you seeing a sunnier world. I love Zig Ziglar's sense of humor. I especially enjoy listening to him on his books on CD. His thick Southern accent adds to the enjoyment of the antidotes sprinkled generously throughout his books. I got to see "Ziggy" live, recently. What a dynamic personality! Even at his age, and in a huge auditorium, Zig Ziglar captured the entire audience with his Southern charm, quick wit, and amazing tales. Choose from a large collection of Zig Ziglar books.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

"How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie is a classic. This book literally changed the way I look at the world, the way I interpret conversations, the way communicate with others. Check it out. Available at most public libraries. Or get your own copy.

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership

"The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John C. Maxwell is a collection of short stories and commentary supporting 21 "laws" or opinions about leadership. I felt like many of John Maxwell's other works were a lot meatier. This was a fast book to read. It kind of highlights limitations of leadership. I think that is why I was personally disappointed. I am a positive person of action. I want hear more about the solution than the problem. I did not feel like Maxwell included enough information on how to overcome these limitations or how to use them to your advantage. It is a good read, especially if you are new to John Maxwell. My criticism is by comparison to his other works. If you would like to check some of them out, try these books by John Maxwell.
